the lack of money makes some things impossible.

i was laid off three times in a two-year period, first losing my job at a major aluminum manufacturer after over six years of work, then being laid off from two of three straight failing dot-coms that were too dependent upon venture capital for their operating capital. i'm 40 years old with a wife and two kids, and all of the 401(k) money that would have gone for my retirement is long gone. i am now working for less than 60% of my prior salary. i've been waiting over six months for the raise promised me when i took on a new position with my current employer. the bills continue to pile up.

my house payment has been two months past due for the last four months, and it's getting worse. the IRS just let me know that an error on my 1999 tax return is going to cost me another $1600 that i don't have, and i worry about what they might take from me to satisfy the debt. over $40,000 in student loans come due in less than six months, and i can't pay anything on them. my credit is totally shot. sadly, bankruptcy won't be of much help, and it costs money to file that i also don't have.

that's not just a sob story. that's my reality. the job market for web developers stinks, and has for over a year, and i can't get back to the level of income that i once held. my wife is working now too, but what little she makes doesn't begin to make up for the lost income from the layoff. your kind donation will do much to get my family and me out of the hole that we're now in. your generosity are sincerely appreciated.
